A woodland tablescape

Jennifer designed this beautiful table scape for her family's Christmas dinner.  First she layered the table with a burlap cloth - a simple backdrop for her monochromatic woodland theme.  Then she added several antique ironstone plates, cut glass goblets, vintage flatware and a gray napkin.  She topped it all with these adorable owl plates from World Market. For the centerpiece, to a bit of faux garland she added our own hand-crafted Curiosites Glittered Deer and Glittered Pinecones, a few mercury-glass votives, and her own vintage salt shaker.....Perfection!

Small Business Saturday, November 29th

I think that pretty much says it all! (Those are my girls...only they're a little bigger now ;)  Visit us this weekend, Fri - Sun, November 28 - November 30.  We'll be open from 10am til 5 pm all three days.  Thank you for your support and Happy Thanksgiving!    

Holiday Open House

What a weekend! The big Holiday Open House is past us now, and we're still recuperating.  Thursday night was the special "VIP" night.  This event gave a small group of people the opportunity to see the Design House beautifully lit at night, with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, and most importantly uncrowded shopping!  All proceeds from the ticket sales were donated to the Special Olympics.  Jennifer and I were still pricing and fluffing Thursday afternoon (planning to work late into the evening), when Suzanne mentioned that we could open that evening, too.  We looked at each other, looked down at our clothes, and launched into a match of "not me, - you"! I drew the short straw and spun into action. There was no way to make it home and back in time, so I grabbed some boots off a display, stole a jacket from the Design House, clipped up my hair and applied a heavy coat of makeup (we'd been working weeks straight on the Curiosities barn, so there were a lot of under-eye bags to cover up!) I opened the doors just in time and welcomed a small but wonderful group of customers who were very kind and complimentary.  It was a lovely evening benefiting a very good cause and we were so happy to be a part of it.  The rest of the weekend flew by - we had tons of folks come out, and everyone was so patient with the crowds and our ineptness with our new cash register, hahaha!

 Wasn't this chair stunning upholstered in Brunschwig & Fils fabric?  We knew it wouldn't last long!

 My friends always ask if it's hard to sell the items that we search so hard for.  In the case of this industrial flat file cabinet, yes!! It would be so perfect for a flat screen TV!

 

 This incredible brass floor lamp sold as well.  It was hard to part with, too!

Our baby is born...

We are proud parents! Our new baby, Curiosities, is here and we couldn't be more thrilled.  Thanks to everyone who came out to see us for our opening weekend and for all the kind words.  We would be remiss if we didn't post some pictures!

Curiosities...opening soon!

Welcome...we're so glad you found us! Curiosities is the brain-child of Jennifer Huffman and Lisa Aktug, two friends who have each been selling antiques for over a decade.  We have decided to join forces and launch a new company, Curiosities, which will combine our love for the old and the cool with antique style designs from our in-house studio.  Currently located in the magnificent Old Lucketts Store where you can shop with us 7 days a week, we will be opening a new location in the barn at the Luckett's Design House (which is open the first weekend of the month).  Our Grand Opening will be held November  7, 8, & 9 and we hope you will join us!
